WLOS: Businesses join in Caleb Johnson celebration

Downtown Asheville business owners joined in welcoming American Idol finalist, Caleb Johnson, for his hometown visit on Saturday, according to a report by WLOS.

Some downtown restaurants put signs out to welcome Caleb home for his big parade in downtown Asheville.

“We’re so excited to have Caleb in the final three and to put Asheville on the map on that show,” said Kim Murray, Co-owner of The Lobster Trap. The fresh seafood eatery gets fish flown in daily, so is open only for dinner. But Murray said, “We’ll have the windows open, we’ll have our menus out, we may even give out some gift cards.”

The parade was scheduled to start on Patton Avenue near the French Broad and end at  The Orange Peel.

You could say Wicked Weed Brewing, next to The Orange Peel, has the best seat in the house. The pub is at the end of the parade right next to The Orange Peel, where Caleb will perform Saturday night. “We’ve talked about it,” said Luke Dickinson, of Wicked Weed. “With our whole staff, for sure. Anytime you have something with national exposure coming to town we want to be ready for it.”
