WLOS holds Break the Hunger food drive to benefit Children First/Communities in Schools

From Children First/Children in Schools:

Each summer, thousands of local children experience higher rates of food insecurity because they are no longer receiving the free & reduced breakfast and lunch from their school.

We at Children First/Communities in Schools see an increased demand for family food boxes during the summer months, and in response to this higher demand, we are fortunate to be the beneficiaries of the Break the Hunger food drive.

So join us in the parking lot of Carolina Furniture Concepts on Friday, June 9th from 5:00 AM-7:00 PM and bring non-perishible food items to help stock our food pantry through the summer months.

Donations of non-perishable foods like cooking oil, peanut butter and jelly, cereal, pasta, rice, canned tuna or chicken are encouraged. For a full list of accepted items, click here. To make a cash donation, click here.

The food drive is sponsored by WLOS News 13, Carolina Furniture Concepts and Two Men and a Truck. The event will be held from 5 a.m.- 7 p.m. at the new Carolina Furniture Concepts Store, 100 Airport Road.
