WNC Agricultural Hall of Fame relocates, nominations sought

Press release from WNC Communities:

WNC Communities is now accepting nominations for the 2022 Agricultural Hall of Fame.  This annual event recognizes stewards of our Western North Carolina agribusiness sector and honors the visionaries and leaders of the agriculture industry. At a time when Western North Carolina is seeking new methods of sustainability, WNC Communities is proud to recognize those who have made significant contributions to one of our state’s most important sources of revenue.

Established in 1991, the objectives of the Western North Carolina Agricultural Hall of Fame are to identify and honor significant contributions to agriculture; to recognize individuals who have been responsible for agricultural advancement; to improve and promote agriculture as a result of the honorees work within the agriculture community in any phase of agriculture or agricultural-related endeavors.  Selection of members for the Western North Carolina Agricultural Hall of Fame is conducted annually and the general public is invited to submit nominations for this honor.  The guidelines, criteria and nomination form for 2022 may be downloaded at wnccommunities.org or you may pick up a hardcopy at the WNC Communities office at 594 Brevard Rd., Asheville, NC.  Nominations must be received by Friday February 25, 2022

WNC Communities will hold the 31st Annual Western North Carolina Agricultural Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in August at its new home the Davis Event Center, WNC Agriculture Center in Fletcher, NC, where the WNC Ag Hall of Fame has been relocated and is on permanent display.  Since 1991, the WNC Ag Hall of Fame was displayed at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center in Mills River, and WNC Communities appreciates their generous hospitality and support while a permanent location was secured.  Thanks to Commissioner Troxler and the NCDA&CS the WNC Agricultural Hall of Fame has a permanent home and is on view to the public.
