Youth Outright offers scholarships to attend National LGBTQ Conference

Asheville, NC, October 11, 2015 – Youth Outright WNC, Inc., is offering two full scholarships for the 2016 Creating Change Conference, which will be held in Chicago, Illinois January 20 – 24, 2016. Creating Change is the premier annual organizing and skills-building event for the lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender, and queer community and their allies.  The conference is run by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and attracts more than 3,500 people from all over the country every year.  Find out more about the conference at http://www.creatingchange.org/

Scholarship details:

  • All expenses paid!  This includes hotel, air fare, ground transportation, meals and conference registration.
  • Youth Outright staff accompanies scholarship recipients.
  • Scholarship applicants must submit their application electronically, via mail, or in-person at Youth Outright meetings in Asheville (Sundays from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 20 Oak Street) by October 30th to be eligible.
  • The selection committee will select candidates and schedule interviews with finalists during the week of November 15 – 20.
  • Scholarship recipients will be announced by December 7.
  • Scholarship recipients will travel together from Asheville to Chicago on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 and return to Asheville on Sunday, January 24, 2016.
