Parkway hiking tips:

1. Hiking shoes or boots are recommended for most trails, even the “easy” ones.

2. Sudden changes in temperature are common in the mountains during all seasons; dress in layers.

3. Stay on established trails. Shortcutting at switchbacks causes soil erosion and disfigures the trail.

4. Do not drink the water in streams or springs.
