WHAT: A Midwinter Night’s Dream for the Animals (a Full Circle Farm Sanctuary benefit)
WHEN: Friday, Jan. 16, 6-8 p.m.
WHERE: Metro Wines, 169 Charlotte St., Asheville
WHY: Since autumn 2010, Full Circle Farm Sanctuary has been raising awareness of farmed animals and the conditions that they face, working to save abused, neglected and abandoned farmed animals in need. Currently, the sanctuary cares for 47 rescued animals ranging from pigs to goats to an emu. And according to FCFS founder and executive director Kayla Worden, each of these animals has the potential to change visitors’ lives.
“Many people who visit Full Circle have never been around farm animals, and it’s amazing to see how people interact with them,” Worden says. “They can change people’s attitudes regarding farm animals and raise compassion for them.”
To help build up funding for the animals’ wellbeing, Full Circle Farm Sanctuary is holding a “FUNdraiser,” consisting of a night of libations, entertainment and prize drawings. For a dollar or two per ticket, guests can get in the running for gift certificates to Plant restaurant, Earth Fare, Black Mountain Natural Foods and more. The event also features live jazz and classic country performances from Craig Womack and Daniel Barber and vegan hors d’oeuvres made from local ingredients, including items donated by No Evil Foods, Treeline Cheese and Roots.
Tickets to the farm benefit are $15 and include one free glass of wine. Artwork will also be available for purchase, from pottery to jewelry to photography. An artist-specific percentage of art purchases will also directly benefit veterinary care of animals at Full Circle as well as fence perimeter and barn expansions.

I think I’d like to attend this; too bad the whole world has to go through Facebook to do anything anymore. I don’t use it, so I guess it’s purchase at the door.
