Helios Veterans Complementary Health Care Program

Helios Veterans Complementary Health Care Program offers holistic health-care services that address the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of veterans and their immediate families. The Helios team is comprised entirely of licensed or certified professionals, who provide integrative health care that supports any other existing medical care being received. The practitioners work hard to provide the highest quality treatments and services and are dedicated to addressing each individual’s specific needs in regards to total-body wellness. Currently, some of the main therapies offered include: massage, acupuncture, colon hydrotherapy, reiki, cranio-sacral therapy and chiropractic.

Since Helios began in October 2007, not only are the veterans who have received care reporting improvement in various health conditions, but they also appreciate having a safe, supportive environment to come to where they feel a sense of community. As the owner of Starting Point Center and co-founder of the Helios Program, Deborah Nixon points out, “It’s one thing to say you want to see the troops sent home safely, but it’s once they’re home that they really need our support.”

The program is offered free of charge. Hours are held on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month at Starting Point Internal Cleansing and Wellness Center, 959 Merrimon Ave., Suite 2, in Asheville. For an appointment, call 255-2898. For more information regarding services offered and to learn more about the practitioners, visit www.helioswarriors.org.
