• April 3: Reception for John Carroll, Ron McKee, Joe Dunn and Mike Fryar, candidates for the Buncombe Board of Commissioners, at the home of John and Vicky Wynn, 18 Stuyvesant Crescent, Biltmore Forest, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The public is invited. • April 7 and 9: Voter registration will be available at the Reid Center, 133 Livingston St. in Asheville, coordinated by the League of Women Voters. For more info, contact Nina Accardo, 275-7052.

• April 7: An “Elvis Supper” with David Gantt, candidate for chair of the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Coleman Place, 36 Montford Ave. in Asheville (Elvis performs at 6:15). Free and open to the public; for information, call 252-2852.

• April 7 and 11: Free fish fries for Keith Thomson, Buncombe Board Commissioners candidate. April 7 at the Woodfin Town Hall, 90 Elk Mountain Road; April 11 at Lake Julian Park, 75 Long Shoals Road. Both events take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Contact Keith Thomson at 215-4650.

• April 8: Democratic candidates for Buncombe Board of Commissioners take part in a forum at Kenilworth Presbyterian Church, 7:30 p.m.

• April 9-15: Half-day, weeklong training period for workers at one-stop early voting sites.

• April 10: Televised debate, N.C. Lieutenant Governor candidates, UNC-TV, 10 to 11:30 p.m.

• April 10: 11th District Congressional Candidates’ Forum, 2 to 3:30 p.m., St. John’s in the Wilderness, 1895 Greenville Highway, Flat Rock.

• April 11: Last day to make changes or register to be able to vote on May 6. (See details above for early voting.)

• April 14: Meet and Greet the Buncombe Board of Commissioners candidates, sponsored by the League of Women Voters, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center, 236 Charlotte St. Open to the public.

• April 14: Bothwell for Buncombe will host a fundraising concert featuring folkie David Rovics, 8 p.m. at the Firebird Cafe and Books, 48 Commerce St., Asheville (behind the Purple building, Patton entrance beside Weinhaus), $10.

• April 16: Fairview Democrats hold a meet-and-greet at 6:30 p.m. for Democratic candidates for Buncombe Board of Commissioners: David Gantt, chair; K. Ray Bailey, Cecil Bothwell, Vernon Dover, Holly Jones, Keith Thompson, and incumbents Carol Peterson and Bill Stanley. A forum on issues follows at 7 p.m.; Fairview Community Center.

• April 28: Presentations by the judicial candidates for the N.C. Court of Appeals, followed by a debate between the Republican primary candidates for Congress, District 11. Sponsored by the Asheville-Buncombe and the Henderson County Leagues of Women Voters, at Calvary Episcopal Church on Hendersonville Road, 7 p.m.

• May 6: Primary election.
