2-1-1 referral specialists answer your questions around the clock. United Way’s 2-1-1 of WNC is a free, 24/7, community-service information line serving Buncombe, Henderson and Transylvania counties. People can call 2-1-1 from a land line, or 252-HELP from a cell phone, to find out where to get or give help in the community. The 2-1-1 database includes information on human services such as housing, food, medicine, support groups, recreation, money management, volunteer opportunities and much more. As one 2-1-1 caller relates, “2-1-1 provided me with alternatives that I hadn’t thought of on my own. They gave me information to improve my situation in a nonjudgmental way.” 2-1-1’s database is searchable online at www.211wnc.org
Before you comment
The comments section is here to provide a platform for civil dialogue on the issues we face together as a local community. Xpress is committed to offering this platform for all voices, but when the tone of the discussion gets nasty or strays off topic, we believe many people choose not to participate. Xpress editors are determined to moderate comments to ensure a constructive interchange is maintained. All comments judged not to be in keeping with the spirit of civil discourse will be removed and repeat violators will be banned. See here for our terms of service. Thank you for being part of this effort to promote respectful discussion.
