Blog Log: The week in local blogging

Daily updates by local news outlets aside, the blog-o-verse was not all about snow this week.

For instance:

• “Kilgore Trout” at the Asheville Beer Blog got a sneak-peek at the Thirsty Monk, due to open next week.

• And Heather Rayburn, Asheville City Council meeting fixture and Elaine Lite trumpeter, gave up on politics at Chasing the Bread Truck.

But After Wednesday, it all turned slushy. Some local bloggers actually made it outside, though the folks over at The Ashevillien can’t seem to leave the fire alone. And A Girl Who Wears Glasses got some pics of some weird, doomed experiment.

Not to say snow days always bring the fun. What the Hell ran into the inevitable rush for bread and milk, and Edgy Mama spent the day in court (!).

Oh, and “Pancho” at Pancho’s Villa got offered some whale soup. (Lucky!)

    Hey Brian,

I can see where you might fairly state that Heather has “given up on politics” (for now) as stated in her blog, but may I ask where you made the leap to include me? Heather has to take occasional breaks due to her health issues, but I don’t even see my name mentioned in her blog – no less any indication that I’m pulling out of activist work.

    Splain, please …

    Elaine,

Sorry for the confusion. I was pointing out that Heather is a big supporter for your campaign. She is an “Asheville City Council meeting fixture and Elaine Lite trumpeter…”
I was not implying that you are leaving the ring.

Does anyone here think that perhaps Hot Springs or Chimney Rock has the political potential to beat Asheville to setting a WNC precedent for domestic partner benefits for municipal workers?? Smaller towns may have an advantage because they contain fewer social conservatives and thus less opposition.
Might Boone or Cullowhee have similar potential????
