Blog Log: The week in local blogging

Asheville is a political town, and given past occurrences, it should be obvious that, if a rally comes to town, many will show up and some will film it. And then you will post it on your blogs.

Asheville’s visit by vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin was well attended, even if most bloggers seemed to stay outside. Asheville on the Ground, no stranger to protest, has an account from the activist front, while Trapdoorintodinosaurpit collected candid quotes from the crowd.

Edgy Mama moved around relatively easily due to her Palin-stlye ensemble, but this Palin look-alike over at Girl Who Wears Glasses was a dead-ringer. Zing! And as The AsheVillein pointed out, she was probably safe amongst the zombies.

That’s right, zombies can rally too, and Arratik and Ashvegas both got some film of their descent on the Civic Center during the Palin rally.

Of course politics and Halloween have much in common, notes the The Mills River Progressive.

Oh, that’s right. Halloween is here, a fact that A Dark Topography made sure to mention, and Amateur Cocktail Guy is, like always, supplying the drinks.

What else happened? Well it snowed, a fact that Blue Ridge Blue Collar Girl and The Asheville Gardener are of two different opinions.

And we don’t know if you’ve heard, but there’s an election going on. Scrutiny Hooligans and My Weaverville have some voter guides for you and our own site has this late-breaker. GO VOTE!

That is all.

The comments section is here to provide a platform for civil dialogue on the issues we face together as a local community. Xpress is committed to offering this platform for all voices, but when the tone of the discussion gets nasty or strays off topic, we believe many people choose not to participate. Xpress editors are determined to moderate comments to ensure a constructive interchange is maintained. All comments judged not to be in keeping with the spirit of civil discourse will be removed and repeat violators will be banned. See here for our terms of service.
