Buncombe County Commissioners meeting: Doh! Who’s gonna clean up all the trichloroethylene?

The Buncombe County Board of Commissioners will meet today beginning at 4:30 p.m. to consider a range of agenda items.

Buncombe County Health Department Director Dr. Vicki Ittel will update the board and the public on progress at the former CTS site south of Asheville, where residents are alarmed by the possible health risks of tricholorethylene and other industrial chemicals left behind.

As with the last several meetings, the board will hold public hearings on three requests for property rezoning and decide whether to support the opinion of county planning staff and the Buncombe County Planning Board on each request.

Sheriff Van Duncan will report to the board on the matter of inmate labor, URTV Executive Director Pat Garlinghouse will offer an update the public-access station, and Arthur Carder of Western Highlands will give a mental-health update.

In new business, the board will hear a Western Highlands Network fiscal-monitoring report from Buncombe County Finance Director Donna Clark, as well as a report from the I-26 Corridor Committee.

As always, the meeting will be held in room 204 of the County Courthouse at 60 Court Plaza in downtown Asheville. Public comment is taken during the work session, which begins at 4 p.m.

please go and review what little bit they do show on the county web site. Note how Bill Stanley told Nathan what to do and how Nathan shut down Barry Durand and would not let him speak. This reminded me of the time that Bill Stanley told Tom Sobol for him not to let that “sob” ruin their meeting. Bill was refering to Jerry Rice.

The commissioners are very little for not televising the public comment portion of the meetings and the Mountainx should take up that issue.

The true progressives would be fighting for the people’s right to be recorded and expressed.

Basically I am calling everyone out on this issue.
Nathan, Bill, David, David, Carol and the Mountainx and all of the progressives in Asheville to either be for open debate or admit that it is a control issue.

    Don,

I agree that the County Commissioners need to televise public comment. They also need to move the meeting dates, so as not to coincide with City Council meetings. They could also move the time later to accommodate working people.

Most importantly, they could have discussion and make decisions in public instead of doing everything in the metaphorical cloakroom.

Gordon now you see why Ralph says we are a kin.
Hey man call in tomorrow night on Charter channel 20 from 7:30 to 9:30 and lets discuss this.

Sounds like we both agree on this and I will remind you of what I had in my platform when I first challanged the democratic power structure.

Both of those issues were on my platform just as you stated them.

I think that would scare the bejebbes out of the power structure for a supposed progressive and supposed conservative to come together on that issue alone.

The rest we can fight about. What say you.

(if there is some misspelled words and wrong grammer just bear with me.)
