Buncombe County seeks public comment on draft sustainability plan

Buncombe County is currently in the process of developing a county-wide Sustainability Plan. County officials say the plan will inspire community members and local governments to make sustainable practices a priority, and in the process, strengthen the local environment, community and economy.

Local experts, members of the Buncombe County Sustainability Partnership, and community leaders drafted the plan. The Buncombe County Environmental Advisory Board, which reports to the County Commissioners, invites public comment on the proposal and strategies for implementing it.

Several community meetings were recently completed to provide opportunity for public input; but the public is still invited to contact the County Planning Department at (828) 250-4830 or via e-mail at Sustainability@BuncombeCounty.org if they wish to provide comment.

The text of the 51-page draft Sustainability Plan is available for review here.
