Get stomped!

They’re conservative. They’re angry. And they’re coming to a computer near you.

If you’re a fan of local politics but finding yourself at a loss for interesting corners of the Web to visit, consider a trip over to the just-launched Carolina Stompers.

Stitched together by a group of veteran politcal activists, the site is determined to draw a line in the Carolina clay between real Republicans and RINOs (“Republicans in Name Only”). How determined? Consider a slogan running across the top of the page: “True Republicans stomping liberals and RINOs for our children’s future.”

Early posts at Carolina Stompers include a video narrated by Stompers founder Chad Nesbitt with some tough talk about drug addiction (chilling!), as well as scenes from earlier protests against zoning in Buncombe County. Today’s “breaking news” on the site: a purported Libertarian takeover of the Buncombe County GOP. That’s enough to make some Republicans stomping mad …

Those are drunks in that movie, not drug addicts. They drink beer, whisky, and wine, or anything with grain alcohol in it. When Walmart was on Tunnel Road they piled up huge piles of mouthwash bottles by their campsites up behind the bus station and back up in the Beaucatcher Tunnel hollows above the old Walmart. Their “drug” is ethanol, same drug as goofy Chad Nesbitt’s.

Help us out here. Do ‘real Republicans’ repudiate George Bush’s assault on the Constitution, his racking up record budget deficits, his growth of the federal bureaucracy, his eagerness to engage in foreign military entanglements, his spying on Americans, etc.?
Historically, mainstream Republicans (i.e. real conservatives) would be aghast at the above results of the Bush debacle.

Or, does the term ‘real Republicans’ signify unthinking fealty to the dictates of a ‘unitary executive’ (neo con talk for an imperial presidency)? Do these ‘real Republicans’ feel ‘stompin’ mad’ over the presumed ‘Libertarian takeover’ of the GOP because Libertarians are closer to traditional American conservative Republicans, and hence feel threatened by them?

What did the homeless guy have to do with drug use? Considering the gaudy cross around his wife’s neck as pictured on the home page and their own mission statement, “We support Christian and American values,” it’s nice to see Chad Nesbitt messing with sleeping homeless people and interrogating them and telling them they have to leave the area instead of helping in any way or asking if they need anything or even bringing some food. Now that is REAL Republicanism!

If you listen to “real republicans,” like a George Will for instance, their belief system falls a little more to the libertarian side. Without a political campaign to run for, I think more Republicans would act like Libertarians.

  5. They really need to hire an editor.

Either that or the people they’re trying to attract to their site are the ones that don’t mind spelling errors, random ALLCAPS, and sentence fragments ending with FIVE EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!

  6. Republicans are cute when they are angry. Who are they angry with?
Dems? Progressives? Repubs who aren’t Rethug enough? Maybe just themselves because they see their Newt revolution slipping away like rancid water down a storm drain?

  7. You should read their forum, they have some real gems on comparing Liberals to Nazi’s (which makes sense in a way, considering they believe that Liberals are the cause of all the ills of the world, past present and future).

On a side note, this (Romper?)Stompers site is getting a lot of play for a site that seems to have about 5 readers.

  8. Don’t you hate pants?

Thanks for reporting on their forum. You’re kind of like Stephanie Miller that way. She listens to Faux News so we don’t have to!.

  9. Thank you, Kent Priestley. Nice article and not too snarky. :-Þ

    Gordon,
You are exactly as we are but on the polar opposite realm. You do not like Heath Shuler because he does not represent the Democrat platform due to his conservative views. You would rather have someone more progressive; a better representation of your party’s platform is my guess. Totally understandable.

We happen to be on the other side wanting exactly the same thing! Real conservatives who stand by our party platform. We plan to hold our party accountable to that platform. It’s very simple.
Far too long the watered down Republicans are so much like the watered down Dems you literally can not tell the difference between the two parties.

Then there’s a certain someone whose only apparent job is sitting on a computer all day photoshopping pictures of his “arch nemesis” …St. Chad was it? Dreaming of rainbow painted peace symbols on pachyderms wearing glasses wanting to “Take over the Republican party”. If it were not such a sad state to be in it would be laughable.

To all you spelling bee winners (or is that spelled whiners) out there, glad the spelling is all you can pick out to complain about. We do certainly hope you can get over this spelling phobia, and feel welcome to come debate topics anytime.

Thanks again to Mountain Express for being balanced.

~ Committed to stomping out corruption in every form we find it! ~

  10. Then can I assume that you are for the impeachment of bush and Cheney? That is where “stomping out corruption” starts. Are you also for and end to the war as soon as possible? Do you not think that this whole adventure is a corrupt experiment for ever lasting war so that Haliburton and the likes reap corrupt profits? You can’t have it both ways.

Thanks to Kent for his work. You are beginning to see someone take people to task that do not defend their position. Which party blocked the minorty party from going up Mount Mitchell when it was just being developed. How about the Jim Crow laws and who is doing the same now with the drug problem in Asheville.

That my friends is the power structure made up of Democrats and a few Republicans that make their living off of being in Bed with the Democrats. We have a few people under the name of libertians that want to make drugs totally legal and yet they eliminate people that they disagree with from their yahoo group. (That is Tim Peck) How can that person claim to have liberty when he grants no liberty.

Carolina Stompers is working to form a group of people that will tell you what they are and not run from some so group of people that claim to care but will not permit people to express them selves.

Yes the Mt. Xpress does work to cover the county commissioners meetings and I am still waiting for the League of Women Voters to come out with their solutions to the problems uncovered with Board Appointments.

Politics still rules in Buncombe and that is the power structure. Glad to see someone take the power structure. Carolina Stompers is just such a group and watching all of these people come out against it is proving that it is right on target….

Keep it up and keep on throwing those darts and verbal barbs because that just proves that we are right and the so called progressive liberals are just a bunch of kids mad because someone is tired of throwing them candy and they want their candy free and paid for by someone else. We are tired and are now fighting back….
