Goal!!! U.S. beats Algeria 1-0 in today’s World Cup match

The U.S. defeated Algeria 1-0 with a goal scored in the final minutes of today’s World Cup match. The dramatic win allows the U.S. team to advance to round two of the Cup for the first time since 2002.

This year’s tournament is being held in South Africa and the next U.S. match is scheduled for Saturday, June 26 at 2:30 p.m. EST.

    Finally, YES, a sports “article”!! Go MntnXpress!!! Good for you!!
    So much has happened in the World Cup it has been a shame not even to get a blurb. I’m so proud of our local paper now.
    Please, MX, keep reporting on this. Game on Sat. and please report about the “insanity” of the previous two matches.

    PS Saw many jerseys of other countries being worn in downtown… World Cup is a Big Deal!!!!
