Go Gordon Smith! Hey, Asheville, Gordon will be a great addition to the Asheville City Council. So get out there and support his candidacy!

  2. Dionysis

Good luck, Gordon. If I lived in the city, I’d support your efforts and vote for you, but alas, I do not and cannot. Still, I’ll root for you.

Gordo is just an activist Blogger, wait till the public sees all the crazy opinions from his blog, which he and Arratik have probably edited out by now.

An e-mail invite to all “bloggers, internet reporters, and fellow web-heads,”

    I didn’t get an invite.

  5. Gordo,
Thanks for being willing to step up to the plate and get involved on an even more deeper level.
You’re past work speaks volumes for your committment to our community and for making Asheville an even better place.

    Today City Council…..tommorrow ????

  6. “Today City Council…..tommorrow ???? “

This mentality is the much of the problem with politicians and politics alike.

(not a smack at you Don, I’m just saying I wish that local leaders would commit to their communities rather than walk on public egg shells so they can win the next bigger and grander election)

  7. Excellent point Jenny….and I totally agree with the praise for local leaders who aren’t always looking at the next election.

I have deep respect for local public servants like Robin Cape, Holly Jones, Brownie Newman, Jan Davis and Bill Stanley and too many others to list who continue to serve faithfully on a local basis.

At the same time, I also admire folks like David Young, Kay Hagan, Maaggie Lauterer and others …who began their public service on a very local level and then expanded their fields of service as they felt called to do so.

Thanks again for reminding us that it’s important for local leaders to focus on the “here and now” and how they can effect change in our community.

I think Gordon has a strong voice, mind, and opinon that this community needs. It is beyond time that this city addresses neglected issues and I feel confident that Gordon is the right addition our city council needs. Personally I am hoping to see some of that fire he posseses bring life to issues like Asheville’s failing mental health system.

What does the Q stand for in the word “Go” on
Gordons new logo. Or is that even a Q?

  10. WestAVLMama

Do I justify that with an answer? Take another 30 seconds of looking at it and let us know.

  11. Gordon is a great guy, plus his first name is my middle name, so that makes him even cooler. Plus we went to college together and stuff, so that makes me cooler for knowing him ;)

    I’ll support you Gordon!

  12. David Roat

Its also a great campaign to volunteer for. We are going to use the tools that we learned from the Obama campaign. Our field operations will be efficient, effective and empowered.

    Chad,

It is a secret witchcraft symbol meant to let all us Satanists know that Gordon is down with us and that if we help elect him to city council there will be free kitten sacrifices for all.

    JBo,

    Ooooooooh…. ok. Why?

Saw you in WNC magazine by the way.
    Great article.
I guess that’s you using the picture from WNC mag.

  15. sg

    Tigerswede,

You are correct. Gordon has redacted many of his blog previous blog entries.

After all of his pushes for transparency and researching opponents, it is sad to see him take cover and hide. Not surprising I’m afraid.

  16. randallt

Gordon would make a fine council member. He could bring much to the table in trying to help set the elements of a progressive, sustainable and vibrant Asheville future.

  17. Tigerswede and sg:

I have mirrors of the deleted blogs, and would consider resurrecting the entire deleted line of WNCNN videos if the money is right. Send me a PM.

    Serious inquiries only, please. ;-p

  18. Ashevegasjoe

So you’re only into sabotage if the money’s right? Typical conservative. It seems like if you have these bombshells you’d release them as a service to mankind.

I’ve followed his blogs, and am sure he has nothing to hide. Unlike the Stompers who compared the ability of people to leave before Katrina with the people who attended the inauguration. Because they’re all the same– I guess?

  19. I suppose you only work for free? Saboteurs, hired guns, and consultants are people too!

Typical liberal, bereft of a sense of humor, or the appreciation of an opportunity to make money, or tweak a political opponent. This going to be a very entertaining campaign!!

The webscrubbing was my first hint that a serious run for office was coming, and I acted accordingly.

The people who attended the Inauguration were just moneyed versions of the people who watched Katrina bear down on them, and their trash disposal methods are the same.

  20. All that being said, I do expect Gordon to win a seat on the Council for one simple reason…the right side of the political spectrum in Asheville is very poorly organized and more interested in attacking each other than lefties.

  21. Sounds like T-Pig is doing his Rush Limbaugh impersonation…..and quite well I might add.

The current Buncombe County GOP seems to have some talented, well-spoken, and politically savvy new leadership at the top. I hope they are successful in bring rational debate back to local republican politics.

But…will they suffer the same fate as Steele if local dittoheads try to bring them down?

  22. shadmarsh:

Jesus preached for us to help the poor with our efforts, not to use the gov’t as an armed robber to take from one and give a portion of the loot to another.

Also, I don’t think Jesus would have cursed…

  23. shadmarsh

    TP,

Im sure he would have approved of all your efforts to take from the poor and give to the rich, which is what conservatives have spent the last 30 years doing.

And the government hasn’t taken your free will, if paying taxes is such an affront to your sense of justice, don’t pay ’em.

  24. Paul -V-

    The (PFKaP): I don’t think he’s a city resident.

Something to remember whenever he complains about whiches, homosexuals, hippies, and community organisers: He doesn’t actualy have to deal with them in his day-to-day life.

  25. Ashevegasjoe

Just for the record, TP, I would hardly consider this, or what you do, as “work”. Yes, I do this for free, and if I had some secret information on a candidate, I would release it for free.
I don’t understand how the people who attended the inauguration are “moneyed versions” of the people who watched Katrina bear down on them. Unless you are referring to the fact that we are all human. The people in New Orleans were totally bereft of the resources to leave. The people at the inauguration were obviously able to take off from work, travel, and afford accommodations. I guess the better question would be: “Why does anyone debate such ridiculous questions?” I guess I fell into your trap of absurd logic– good one.

But, just for giggles, what is the method you write of for disposing of “trash”– giant ovens, relocating them to camps, or just holding them indefinately without a trial at all?

  26. I don’t consider what I do as work either. That I get paid is just a bonus.

The people at the Obama Inaugural could have ‘packed out’ their trash instead of throwing it on the ground like the environmental hypocrites that they are…leaving behind something that looks like a refugee center in Somalia, New Orleans or where ever Democrat or the hopeless of humanity gather.

Information is money (especially in politics), and arrangements have been made for the disposal of said information.
