Hatching a plan

Hatchfest is coming back to Asheville. Unfamiliar with Hatch? In a nutshell:

“HATCH Asheville is a non-profit organization. The mission of HATCH is to provide mentorship, education, inspiration and recognition to the next generation of creative innovators. We focus on the creative industries and how to best leverage our creative professions to impact the community and the planet in a positive and sustainable way.

HATCHfest brings together luminaries in the arts and entertainment world to serve as mentors to groundbreaking new creative talent. We host panels, workshops, keynotes, exhibits, networking parties, and mentoring sessions for four days in the heart of downtown Asheville.”

On April the 1st, the Wine Studio of Asheville (169 Charlotte St.) and the organizers of Hatch will present a multi-course tasting event to delight the senses. From the press release:

“Enjoy multiple tastings accompanied by cheese, chocolate, fruit and bread, then have a glass of your favorite for only $5.  Explore creative wine pairings, different combinations of grapes, and the artistic design of wine labels.  We will also be showing the locally produced, “HATCH-umentary” from last year. Ticket price: $10 advance / $15 at the door.”

Event organizer Katie Kasben says that exploring the ways that different flavors meld together and highlighting the way that food and art can riff off of each other is intended to echo the multi-disciplinary and collaborative focus of Hatch itself. Expect to find plenty of local flavor, as well. The Three Graces Dairy will be providing cheese, the French Broad Chocolate Lounge will provide sweet treats, and that’s just the beginning.
