Into the Forums

Although it’s been something of a quiet week on the MountainX.com forums, plenty of interesting conversations have taken place. For instance, forum user Johnny Lemuria made his feelings a squeaky clean Mardi Gras parade quite clear in the thread Family Friendly = Evil banality that must be eradicated with a ball-peen hammer. But who knew that the discussion would shortly turn to the topic of zombies as a sociopolitical metaphor?

In national topics, forum users expressed surprise at ex-Federal Reserve Chairman and free market guru Alan Greenspan’s seeming endorsement of bank nationalization, found plenty of dark humor in the video shot by protesters at NYU and found plenty to ponder in the ongoing discussion of America’s involvement in Afghanistan.

The Written Word subforum has been relatively active this week, and with tempting topics like greatly overrated books and the eternal fanboy argument about the merits of Marvel and DC comics, it’s easy to see why. Other notable threads in the Arts & Entertainment section include the ongoing Rap thread and the discussion of the upcoming Watchmen movie.

The addition of a “cute picture” thread was inevitable, so this week the offical place to post LOLcats and images of adorable furry animals was launched. We expect big things from this thread, as well as lots of amusingly captioned images of all manner of house pets. And a last-minute attempt to trick other forum users into helping to write this update instead turned into a thread once-again showcasing the talents of forum superstar brebro, who posted some slightly salacious—but definitely funny—comics instead.

Other noteworthy discussions included the children who don’t sleep much thread, the downright volatile conversation about a different view of God and a request for advice about getting just the right kind of cat.

Don’t see a discussion about that burning topic you’d like to talk about? Why not start your own? All registered members of MountainX.com have forum accounts, and if you aren’t a member, joining is easy — just click here.

    and this one:

    Russian Ballerinas Asheville!!!

I was kind of sorry to see that one closed down. It looked like the guy was about to get into an argument with himself, which might have been amusing and was certainly time-saving.
