Into the Forums

With many downtown-Asheville businesses hanging on by their fingertips, the question “Will the tourists come?” is surely weighing on the minds of many right now. Meanwhile, a video by local right-wing political outfit the Carolina Stompers was the inspiration behind this thread.

In this busy news week, the discussion of national topics has proven to be quite active as well. For instance, forum posters were asked about their economic views in “Are you bullish, or bearish?” Ideologically opposed forum regulars Thomas38 and travelah got into it in this thread about taking the profit out of health care, while the current situation off the coast of Somalia — and the surprisingly compelling reasons the pirates aren’t seen as villains by all Somalis — was talked about in this one. And what discussion of breaking national news would be complete without a thread about Billy Bob Thornton’s recent journalist-hatin’ antics?

Of course, there were plenty of non-news discussions this week as well. Poster shadmarsh started a discussion about not being quite so photographically talented as one might like; the music-loving MountainX Forums Radio thread is still going strong; a new thread about our favorite conspiracy theories is doing too well to be explained by a lone-poster theory; and now there’s finally a place to create the official list of things the MX Boarders have decided are “populist pap.”

And all these threads are merely a few of this week’s discussions on the MountainX.com forums. Don’t see a discussion about that burning topic you’d like to talk about? Why not start your own?
