It’s a Bele Chere extravaganza

This year is the 30th edition of Bele Chere, Asheville’s annual summer street party, and the Mountain Xpress has gone all out to bring you the best the festival has to offer.

Mountain Xpress offers the official festival guide, which visitors can find on the street around the festival and at the Xpress booth, on the corner of Battery Park Avenue and Haywood Street. Online, Xpress has a Web cam, photo galleries, streaming music by bands playing Bele Chere and a Twitter feed so you can follow updates anywhere you go.

Speaking of the Mountain Xpress booth—there’s a whole line-up of music there, as well as the big stages scattered around downtown. The booth line-up Saturday includes Johnson’s Crossroad at 1 p.m., Wind Motika at 2 p.m., Andrea Lee at 3 p.m., Leigh Glass at 4 p.m., The Cheeksters at 4:45 p.m., Dehlia Low at 5:30 p.m., Biko at 6:15 p.m. and Hunab Krewe at 7 p.m.

See you at the festival.

Thanks for reading through to the end…

We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.

We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.

Before you comment

The comments section is here to provide a platform for civil dialogue on the issues we face together as a local community. Xpress is committed to offering this platform for all voices, but when the tone of the discussion gets nasty or strays off topic, we believe many people choose not to participate. Xpress editors are determined to moderate comments to ensure a constructive interchange is maintained. All comments judged not to be in keeping with the spirit of civil discourse will be removed and repeat violators will be banned. See here for our terms of service. Thank you for being part of this effort to promote respectful discussion.

I’m still waiting to see the photo Mr. Souther took of one of their number proudly holding his anti-wine-bibber sign upside down.

i guess they weren’t serious when they say Asheville welcomes all…only those who are like them and make them feel good about what they are doing.
