Democrats stage downtown rally & march urging early voting

Nearly 100 people gathered at Pack Square this morning for a rally urging citizens to participate in early voting and to support the Democratic slate of candidates. Staged by the local Chapter of Organizing For America and the North Carolina Democratic Coordinated Campaign, speakers included Congressman Heath Shuler, Rep. Susan Fisher, Rep. Jane Whilden, and Rep. Patsy Keever. The group later marched to the Buncombe County Training Center at 199 College Street, the site of an early voting location.

The event was not without its detractors, however. Pictured here is Fisher Caudle, who mounted a one-man counter-protest across the street:

Buncombe County Republican Party Chairman Chad Nesbitt was also on hand. He was seen driving up and down College Street in a large street-sweeping truck plastered with signs in support of various GOP candidates and repeatedly blasting his horn:

A good time was had by all.

Did Nesbitt break the law again? How many feet was he from the election site?

Thanks, tompeck, for making this thread about me. I am much more interesting than a Democrat rally.

I wonder if the “leader” of the Buncombe County Republican Party has the required drivers license to be driving that truck ….

Why is TimPEck afforded the opportunity to inject himself into so many threads, even when no one even mentions his name?

Where did Nesbitt get that street sweeper …. if it owned by the City or Buncombe County wouldn’t that be illegal use of government property by a political party …. if they can not use a public building for political campaigning purposes without payment?

I did not know municipalities where in the business of renting out their heavy equipment ….

do we think he has the appropriate license to be driving that thing?

@timpeck: You’re welcome. But seriously, you are not more interesting than anything.

@Erika: There’s really not much of an article here beyond the who, what, when and where. I was just curious as to how far Chad’s little truck came to the entrance of the early voting site.

Thanks for making me the subject of this thread. I am much more interesting than a Democrat rally.
