Unless you’ve had your head in a water hazard for the last decade or so, you’ve no doubt heard of a certain golfer named Tiger Woods.
This week, GOLF magazine announced that the sport’s most beloved player will be designing his first U.S. course soon, and in Buncombe County no less.
In an Aug. 6 update at its website, GOLF states that Woods recently signed with Cliffs Communities to design the course for The Cliffs at High Carolina, its new development on Swannanoa Mountain.
The source close to Woods said that “Tiger will be intimately involved with the design.”
In time, he’ll also be intimate with the Cliff’s wallet, if history is any judge. The only other Woods-designed course in the world is currently under construction in Dubai. At the time that deal was struck, the media reported that Tiger would be paid $25 million for his services.

Anything that will bring more people to town to buy “Keep Asheville Weird” t-shirts is a good thing in my book.
Too bad the whole thing is destined to slide into the valley.
Hope Tiger cashes the checks fast. I am sure he needs the money.
i live on that mnt and as long as woods doesn’t hit my house with a sliced golfball and he improves my property value, that good for me.
Tiger, if you’re reading this, I wonder if you could comment on the quantity of fertilizer that will be used on the new golf course, and what impact that might have on the nearby reservoir that serves the city of Asheville?
curmedgeon – if you really need a response from Tiger you willneed to log in at http://www.tigerwoods.com and go to the design menu on the site.
