Study ranks Asheville 6th worst metro area in nation for credit card debt

Asheville has one of the worst credit card debt problems in the nation, according to a study by the credit reporting agency Equifax. The report ranks the Asheville metro area the sixth worst in the nation, with the average resident carrying 16.12 percent of their annual income in debt.

In the Asheville area, out a median annual income of $39,884, an average of $6,431 — 16.12 percent — was credit card debt, just behind El-Paso, Texas. A total of six North Carolina cities made the study’s “top” 20, with Wilmington coming in as the worst in the nation.

    well, its probably people like me who are carrying about `0 of their annual income in (student loan) debt that screw it up for the rest of you unedumacated slobs.

    We all are responsible for our own debt and our own burdens that arrive out of our lives and lifestyle. Don’t blame others for your predicaments…just push on and accept what you have.

    I just wanna do my part to help shut the credit agencies down, to bring wall st. crumbling to force reform in the u.s.a. give me some more credit cards to max out. bet the ceo of visa don’t come to my house to collect.
