Under One Sky

Under One Sky is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to finding permanent families for older youth in foster care. Through camp-based programming, Under One Sky’s Passages prepares these youth for adoption, teaches them life and work skills, encourages their emotional, intellectual and spiritual growth, and provides them with a consistent, safe and loving community of other youth, mentors and caring adults.

Holly Paar, program manager for Under One Sky, says, “Camp is a place where youth find opportunity, make choices, talk about what being in foster care is like, and share their hopes and fears about being adopted.”

The organization also provides services to find adoptive homes for youth enrolled in Passages. Twice a year, Under One Sky holds Village Adoption Connection events in Asheville. The public is welcome to attend and learn more about youth who are waiting to be adopted in North Carolina.

Currently, Under One Sky is trying to find adoptive homes for seven waiting youth. If you’d like to know more, get involved with camp, or make a donation, call 251-9703 or visit www.under1sky.org.
