Xpress invites Bringing It Home conference attendees to help document the day

One key tenet of the Mountain Xpress mission is “to treat our readers as participants in an ongoing civic dialogue.” Accordingly, Xpress is recruiting local twitter aficionados to partake in a live blogging collaboration at Asheville's inaugural Bringing it Home economic conference on Wednesday, March 18. This Wednesday’s inaugural Bringing it Home economic conference aims to break new ground, and so does Xpress with its community-based approach to covering the event via tweets by both journalists and attendees at the conference. Orchestrated by community champion Jane Hatley and scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, the day-long engagement is poised to spur commentary as diverse as the event’s speakers and attendees themselves.

“I hope some light bulbs go off,” Hatley told Xpress, explaining her vision for generating self-starting tactics for strengthening Western North Carolina’s economy through a mosaic of interactive sessions.

In the spirit of harnessing those illuminating moments and capturing the day’s grassroots essence, Xpress‘ is recruiting the help of all twitter-toting attendees. The mountainx.com homepage will prominently feature a collaboratively created live roundup of tweets containing the conference’s official hashtag — #Bringit2015 — on event day.

Interested in live blogging with us? Comment with your twitter handle below or email it to kmcreynolds@mountainx.com, and your tweets (that include the official hashtag) will appear among the curated stream. Alternatively, readers will be able to view the unmoderated river of #Bringit2015 tweets at twitter.com/hashtag/bringit2015.

Before you comment

The comments section is here to provide a platform for civil dialogue on the issues we face together as a local community. Xpress is committed to offering this platform for all voices, but when the tone of the discussion gets nasty or strays off topic, we believe many people choose not to participate. Xpress editors are determined to moderate comments to ensure a constructive interchange is maintained. All comments judged not to be in keeping with the spirit of civil discourse will be removed and repeat violators will be banned. See here for our terms of service. Thank you for being part of this effort to promote respectful discussion.
