Letter: Kudos to Parks and Rec

Graphic by Lori Deaton

I would like to give a big thank-you and a round of applause to the city of Asheville Parks and Recreation Department. Due to the ceaseless rainfall over the [week of May 14], much of the French Broad River Greenway path flooded. By Sunday night, although the water had receded, mud and debris covered a lot of the greenway.

First thing Monday morning, however, the crews showed up with heavy equipment and pressure washers and had the greenway all cleaned up by midday. As a regular user of the greenway, I really appreciate the hard work from the women and men who keep it looking nice. Just another reason why Asheville is a great city!

    Huh.
Big gub’ment workers doin’ the job.

The thankless barely living wage types who take a shower after work.
Cue the undereducated non-reader incoherent libertarian hate…3…2…1…
(mockery) “Watch this Infowars video on my phone for the TRUTH”

If those big gub’ment city workers didn’t earn an honest day’s pay, it might be really hard to
get out of your neighborhood with your 1st World vehicle in order to complain while simultaneously
working as a wage slave for the 1%ers who have nightmares about Bernie.

Thank you for your thank you, Philip.

PS my driveway sucked for rain too. I holed up at home, worked from home and cooked.
Mmmm mm good for cooking for myself vs.
ya know, yuppie downtown $15 salads and $20 burgers.

    Je suis un cheapskate.

LOL last time I was at city hall, I had to go through 3 people to pay for a simple piece of paper. But when you can raise more money by voting and most important you run a MONOPOLY by decree, it tends to work out that way. I’d be all for government jobs if by being employed in it the employees gave up their voting rights. Otherwise they can never be held accountable by the people that ACTUALLY PAY FOR IT. Especially in moonbat alley where morons equate higher taxes to better services. Yet services are dwindling and waste is plentiful.
