Letter: Mission Health should require vaccinations

Graphic by Lori Deaton

I find it disturbing that Mission Health still has not mandated COVID vaccinations for staff. At least, vaccinations should be mandatory for staff that has hands-on contact with patients.

I commend Pardee UNC Health Care for making the decision to protect patients and staff by requiring vaccinations. How can we ever end this pandemic when even our health care providers remain lax and unwilling to make the hard choice to get and to require vaccinations? And what kind of example does it set for the rest of the community?

Mission Health, do the responsible thing!

Mission won’t require staff vaccinations as they would probably lose half of their staff.

You’re on the right path. But it’s worse than that. If Mission had even just 5% of their current full time staff go “Galt” that hospital would have to close its doors, basically reneg on its required CON law staffing requirements. Look up the Brownfield (Texas) Regional Medical Center interview with hospital CEO Jerry Jasper…very revealing.

By the way, y’all oughta look into the massive numbers of travel/agency/locum tenens RN, physician, and other allied health staff Mission is paying to come in just to keep their doors open as it stands now. Look it up MtnX…the numbers amount of $$$ they are spending is absolutely astounding! Mission would have already closed its doors for good without all the temporary staff postponing absolute crisis. That, and even with all the travelers, Mission has absolutely pushed their patient to staff ratios to the very border of safe clinical practice. They keep it up much longer and more patients will be injured and die from the unsafe staffing ratios than anything coronavirus could do. Again, MtnX compare nurse-to-patient ratios at Mission versus similar hospital systems like Atrium and Novant in Charlotte and Prisma in Greenville and Columbia, South Carolina.

I’ve spoken to colleagues at Mission and have been quoted travel CNAs making $40/hour, travel RNs $90-$115/hour, and travel hospitalist physicians making $202/hour (one week on, one week off, but still $17,000/week!). Even for full-time Mission staff, they are offering an extra $30/hour “crisis” pay on top of overtime to try to entice workers to come in and cover understaffed shifts to keep things from totally falling apart and they STILL are short-staffed 24/7!! It’s truly an incredible situation.

How long do any of you think Mission can stay in business with labor issues like that even without “vaccine” mandates? How long? That’s why I argue if even 5% of their full-timers that are left were to walk and say **** YOU!! over coerced vaccinations, that’s it, Mission is done and the HCA fire-sale is on.

In any case, to the letter writer—Why do you think health care workers are among the most adamant of those refusing vaccination? Could it be because they are seeing the truth everyday instead of the CNN fantasy you larp in? Oh, that’s right, you’re so much smarter than they are and they should have their healthcare decisions mandated to them under coercion of threat of termination, right? That’s the ticket to improving staff morale! Ha! Letter writer is so deluded, you just gotta laugh.

If the mandates become reality then the letter writer maybe gets exactly what they want…assuming they are a leftist Bolshevik accelerationist looking to hasten the collapse and descent into a hot civil war that they seemingly crave. They truly are destroyers everywhere and every time in history they are allowed the chance.

I myself am a realist libertarian accelerationist so I say go for it, letter writer! We’ve all got front row seats to the end of the Yankee Empire anyway…aggressive abroad and despotic at home. This all ends soon so why wait? Let’s hasten the acharit hyamim!…bring on your mandates, vax passports, digital wallet tied to your social credit score, and all your totalitarian wet-dream edicts!

If any of you readers have any elective medical needs, I suggest you best get those addressed before winter. If you think your local medical system is on the knife-edge now…understand things CAN and WILL get worse. You have weeks and months, not years before this thing goes Tango Uniform.

Things are gonna get REAL “interesting” between now and next summer!

      Shalom and Shanah Tovah Y’all!
