Letter: Trump loves NC and SC

Steven Hawkins

President Donald Trump has made a few visits to North Carolina and South Carolina since being elected president. He won both South Carolina and North Carolina’s electoral votes in the 2016 election and has good relationships with both U.S. Sens. Richard Burr and Lindsey Graham, [former N.C.] Gov. Pat McCrory and [S.C. Gov.] Henry McMaster and U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley.

He made his first visit to North Carolina in October 2017 for a campaign fundraiser dinner in Greensboro at the home of Louis DeJoy [and Aldona Wos], who served as the director of the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services under [former] Gov. Pat McCrory, and now serves as vice chairwoman of the president’s commission on White House Fellowships.

And President Donald Trump has also visited South Carolina since being elected president. He made his first South Carolina visit since being elected, on Feb. 17, 2017, in North Charleston at the Boeing plant, where the company rolled out the [newest] Dreamliner aircraft from its assembly plant. President Trump also was in Greenville on Oct. 16, 2017, to support Gov. Henry McMaster’s … bid for South Carolina governor. He spoke at the Embassy Suites in Greenville flanked by Gov. Henry McMaster himself.

President Trump has a love for North Carolina and South Carolina and has appreciated winning North Carolina and South Carolina’s electoral votes in the 2016 presidential election. He has been to North Carolina and South Carolina many times and looks forward to coming back to the region.

Thank you! You beat me to the punch but as long as it’s said….of course, he loves NC & SC. He’s a bigot & a racist so he ASSUMES anywhere South of the Maison-Dixon are the ones he can manipulate & fool. To him (just like he any other ignorant bigot) southern means stupid, stupid means uneducated, uneducated means poor and when you are stupid , uneducated & poor, all you have to cling to is God. Just play up to all that & he will get your vote…and bless our hearts, he did just that….

LOL anyone who doesn’t agree with you is a racist and a bigot.

    Well, this “click-bait” got me.

With all due respect Mr. Hawkins, your letter has the feel and depth of those “What I did on summer vacation” essays that elementary children write.

    Maybe this isn’t your forte.

I don’t see this as much of anything but a regurgitation of his itinerary of Trump when stumping for our vote. Was this supposed to say something meaningful or was this all the info Wikipedia had? I guess writing a meaningful TRUMP piece was a good idea in theory but impossible to execute so “Let’s recap how many times he came & who with, huh!” . Please. Just make it up like Fox News. Doesn’t seem like anyone cares about truth around here.

  4. A cursory glimpse of Mr. Hawkins online presence reveals that he is a very special young man whose passion for letter-to-the-editor-writing provides him with purpose and fulfillment. The intrinsic therapeutic value of such hobbies should not be undermined by quibbling over the content of his more divisive editorializing missives vs. his equally enthusiastic accolades for local, non-political visitor attractions. Let’s focus instead on the inadvertent attention his promoted published letters provide for local cartoons and other under-viewed portions of the paper that may accidentally find their way into his global audience. https://twitter.com/stevenh82349089/status/980776305460436993

Do you have any more of Trumps trips you can add to your list? This was a very informative letter. Thanks for summarizing Trumps Carolina stops.
