Letter: Unbelievable naiveté on immigration

Graphic by Lori Deaton

I just read a letter in the Xpress titled “We All Can Support Immigrants” [Aug. 7]. Where do they get their facts? CNN?

They aren’t concentration camps; people aren’t forced to drink out of toilets; young children who are separated from their families are because they abandoned them!

They are fleeing economic problems, not climate change! (Typical left-wing rhetoric that blames all problems on climate change.) I could go on and on about the blatant lies and misperceptions that the writer is trying to pass off as facts.

How about coming legally. That’s a term that the lefties want to ignore.

Oh, and BTW, no one is holding them against their will; they can go back at any time if they don’t like the free care they are getting.

However, I do agree with the writer on one point. All of you who want desperately to have open borders: Take them into your house and clothe them, feed them, educate them, pay for their health care, etc. I, for one, am tired of paying for these illegal invaders.

“One 1891 cartoon claimed that “If immigration was properly restricted, you would never be troubled with anarchism, socialism, the Mafia and such kindred evils!”

“Anti-immigrant sentiment continued until the 1920s, when severe restrictions on immigration were put into place by the U.S. Congress. When this legislation passed, the great era of Italian immigration came to an end.”

Thank the Gods we finally acted to choke off the Italian hordes coming here to take away our good American jobs.

Exactly. Since this country was first stolen from the Native Americans each generation has found some foreign group to demonize. Same as it ever was.

        • Lulz

And yet you’re the first in line to give them back your property? After all if it’s stolen, then you’re the crook now. You’re giving back all that money from those west Asheville rentals too?

          • Mike

I know I’m arguing with a fencepost here- but while we cannot always fix the atrocities of the past, we are not bound to repeat them.

          • Lulz

LOL but if one is so consumed with guilt, shouldn’t they do the right thing and give it back? By all means be the one to lead the way. It’s quite funny that one who has made a lot of money with real estate is now on the land was stolen from others bandwagon. All the years of collecting rents, that thought somehow never occurred. Hmmm.

And as far as not repeating itself, it’s called gentrification. But let’s not talk about that. So if this land is stolen then what’s the basis for the government to charge taxes on it? Then they’re nothing more than a criminal enterprise and a rigged system.

What it really boils down to though is theclaim the land is stolen so it needs no borders. But that works both ways and if you allow people in illegally who pay no taxes, then the same should happen to those who leave And that’s pay no income taxes when abroad. And then let’s see how that works out. It’ll suck hard when other countries vow to protect US citizens and corporations from US income taxes and laws. I imagine a border wall will be a priority then, And history repeats itself.

haha Lulz, good point, but we all know that the politics of hypocrisy and bad faith ARE the defining “principles” of the totalitarians, haha!

We’re in the final act of the end of the Yankee Empire anyway, don’t get too emotional about it.

Word to the wise though, you’ve got till 2024, maybe 2026 at the outside before the medical scamocracy finally collapses the domestic economy. Better get your preps in order and keep your powder dry. The cities and any other “blue” zones will be strictly no-go. We’ll see their true “progressive” values in action after just 3 weeks of no food deliveries, trash pickup, and no EBT cards reloaded, lol, haha! The looting, mayhem, and eventual cannibalism will be truly terrible to witness.

Ha ha. The motto of the losing side. But you go right on praying that the United States of America will fail, if it helps you sleep at night. The rest of us will keep believing it’s a pretty good thing that just needs a little work.

Oh, right. Cannibalism. That’s what will happen thanks to Obamacare. Because he’s, well… you know. Got it.

The original Europeans didn’t steal the land from the Indians living here any more than the Indians who were conquered stole the land from the Indians living here before them, they conquered them just like they were eventually conquered. Bottom line, if a group is holding something valuable and they cannot defend it , then they will lose it. Do you really believe the Cherokee were the original Indians that lived here or did they conquer and assimilate the group that were here before them. Also, if the Europeans didnt come over, do you believe that North America would still be an undeveloped wilderness, that every advanced civilization in the world would have chosen to avoid? Of course not, adapt and overcome or perish its called life and you may not like it but it simply is

Legal immigration back then mostly meant “being checked for TB and sexually-transmitted diseases” along with a cursory check that you had family or a home community to fall back on. The Italians were deemed sneaky and fought with knives; the Irish were deemed drunks who fought with their fists. They established political machines and a heavy presence in police and fire departments, got preferential subsidized mortgages, and had access to Catholic colleges. In three or four generations, they’ve gone from swarthy hordes to ladder-pulling xenophobes: how about that American dream?

            1. Newspaper articles from the early 1900s.
            2. From Tammany Hall to Frank Rizzo.
            3. FHA redlining maps from the 1930s.
            4. The people who moved into Levittowns / new suburbs after WW2.

What’s your explanation for what happened in the 32 years between Al Smith and JFK?

Fascinating how people who boast of: having no attention span, rather severe emotional problems, not actually spending much time looking at the real world, having no social skills but can take a great selfie and promote themselves on social media… people who do not work toward saving – rather throwing any penny earned from a rather strong local economy that actually presents many great entry level positions… throwing it right into the hands of drug dealers/tech companies/auto manufacturers (credit…)/selfish academic pursuits that will never return on investment/entertainment…
These are the people who want to *dictate* FEDERAL policy to a country they *hate* and wish to *destroy*?????… While having this distorted vision of “community” being not “everyone who lives here” (thats a racist idea, by not making mention of race it is “ignoring” specific groups even though it is *obviously* a genuinely inclusive idea… so say those living in the land of inverted reality) but rather the community they belong to is a compartmentalized group defined by whatever demographics they inherit/align with… a group most certainly pitted against another group that is nearby in the REAL community they ACTUALLY live in… yes, they are insane, they are always at odds with the world around them, and they feel completely constrained within this perception…
Curiously that community is rather “global” in nature… curiously they call for massive centralization of power…. curiously they want to silence all who disagree with the decrees of the talking heads who give the talking points to these mindless parrots… and they want to *dictate* policy – while tripping on acid on top of whatever the prozac does to them, probably with some booze thrown in there to be even more f’d up… obviously everyone needs to know about their sexual desires – particularly if such desires do not align with the actual reproduction of our species… and they feel so absolutely entitled to their ill-formed opinion that they are *compelled* to act out *violently* against anyone who would offer them even basic philosophical challenges… I’m pretty sure Hitler blamed his “community” problems on a certain group of people and sought to “remove” them… that lunatic was determined to kill my ancestors and dominate the world… and although it is a small % of my makeup I absolutely do not take this lightly as I see these crazed meth heads (ever look into what adderral really is?) calling for the culling if not the outright extermination of the, in truth VERY culturally diverse and statistically VERY peaceful, “Caucasian” herd.
Those brainwashed as such are actually quite dangerous, and at this point we can no longer ignore their idiotic drug induced rants and tantrums… we could wait for them to find the destruction they bring to themselves, but something must be done to limit that destructive force and protect those who actually contribute and actually form a reasonable opinion that is actually considerate of a FRUITFUL future of humanity… you think these lunatics could ever build a spaceship – you think they’ll actually work together in a crisis (see above cannibalism quite, it is NOT far fetched…)???? These people are quite literally demanding and creating a dystopian nightmare – I suggest they divest all holdings (all the stuffed animals, video games, iphones, stash of pills etc they have accumulated in those self proclaimed miserable 20-50 years) and move to north korea… they will find the loving hand they seek to take care of them – wrapped right around their necks… rather they find the destruction they are voting for instead of destroying a country built upon the notion of FREEDOM and willing to face the challenges personal and social brought by the uncertainty FREEDOM brings… those in north korea are rather well assured of their lives, they do not dare think for themselves just as the crazed fools calling for the destruction of freedom and culture here demand of themselves and everyone around them… totally brainwashed, be prepared to deal with them – I’m not sure if “snapping out of it” or “growing out of it” is in the cards for them after so many years of brainwashing/brain damage – the trajectory of this is rather horrific and I may only hope they keep such lunacy to their parents basement and do not vote.

Then perhaps my comments are in reference to you – no apologies if its longer than a tweet and no memes were included for clarification… here is further reading:
I reference a generation of people that have stared at an iphone while popping adderal/prozac/taking acid since childhood and (quite reasonably, after all that) hate their lives enough to want to destroy themselves. Unfortunately self destruction cannot be done in isolation as we are all connected in a rather complex system… I speak of those that hate the land they walk upon – those that demand government become the curator of their existence – those that believe, through all this, they sit upon the highest moral highground – those that have no intellectual defense, but rather rest upon trivial attacks to trump those critical of their demands… people who are generally very weak of mind and body and relish in their general ineptitude… those who would avoid attempting to comprehend my meaning because “their brain hurts” from all the “big words” and I’m not putting in a series of taglines/buzzwords they are familiar with…. I’m talking about a large portion of the people you see walking around staring at a phone while walking a dog they can’t afford to take care of and will end up in a shelter.. I’m talking about those people who offer no forms of common courtesy as they pass mostly eachother upon the street (I wonder if you even believe it respectful to acknowledge the presence of those around you in passing?)… I’m talking about those so well conformed to a set of ideals that they have become a great triumph of those who have predicatively programmed them through the devices they incessantly default their attention to… If any of this makes sense to you, then you will see these people all around you and be compelled to find a solution… if it doesn’t make sense to you – you probably got distracted by a notification and can’t ride this train of thought long enough to ascertain the implication upon your community – let alone the far reaching generational implications upon this world.
