Letter: Where are government’s priorities?

Graphic by Lori Deaton

I would like to know why North Carolina, Buncombe County and the city of Asheville don’t help people with disabilities.

North Carolina says it has short- and long-term disability for their employees. I spent almost 21 years with NCDOT maintenance before I got sick. Now I get about $120 a month from the state. I get food stamps, but I live in a house that is 48 years old, and I don’t make enough to fix it. I’m having to fight to get the money so I can have a place to live. Why?

Buncombe County gives money to beer companies to build a factory but can’t help people. They give drunks and drug addicts a free place to live. People who work for a living don’t have a chance. The crooks in North Carolina, Buncombe County and Asheville are trying to steal everything we have.

Yeah, it would seem the deck is stacked against you, just hang in there and find the right advocate for your circumstances. Easy to say, and it takes much effort and searching to find the right remedy for your situation. You might start by contacting “The Council On Aging” 828.277.8288 within their realm are a multitude of programs, the staff can also suggest other organizations. Regarding home repair, the Council on aging does provide some home maintenance and repair services. I hate that you find yourself in the situation as described…I too share the opinion that our City Admin has too often placed our City resources and revenue into areas that never see gains or improvement…yet property taxes and budgets for these programs increase….REGULARLY !!

Remember as local democrackkks continue to RULE over you here like they have done for decades…WHY have WNC voters depended on democrackkks to destroy them for decades? WHY such ignorance? Population ignorance delivers suffering to all.

    Democrackkks DESTROY.
