Letter writer: Beach-Ferrara would focus on needs of children in poverty

You may know Buncombe County commissioner candidate Jasmine Beach-Ferrara because of her leadership of the Campaign for Southern Equality, advocating for marriage equality and LGBT rights. I have worked closely with Jasmine for five years, and I want to share the qualities I’ve seen in Jasmine that would make her an excellent county commissioner.

One of Jasmine’s priorities, if elected, is to address the needs of the thousands of Buncombe County children living in poverty, their hunger, health and education.

Jasmine has incredible vision — she sees possibility and solutions where others see intractable problems. She has a powerful intellect, is strategic and is an excellent communicator.

She brings together diverse groups of people and maintains respect and compassion for those who disagree with her. In these divisive times, this is a rare quality in an elected official.

Jasmine is a thoughtful minister, a dedicated mother and a proven civil rights leader, and she has my vote for Buncombe County commissioner!

    The AC-T has run countless headlines about the growth in poverty and homelessness that has risen in this area over the last 6 years.

    Excited for Jasmine’s new voice on this critical issue and ceaseless positivity!

    Perhaps seeing human potential rather than problems could help.Stereotyping of the poor is problem one.Greed Avarice And a lack of empathy and compassion are some of the others.
    When asking for self determination and appropriate accommodations for a disability..all I have ever met is this tired line. ; “we know what is best for you.”Perhaps what is missing is a RESPECT for all life.As a ancestral native, it is clear to me that prejudice, most of all is the cause.There. is only one race..the human race.It is So Sad. Some cannot even get their wee brains around this concept Poverty..created by the rich to denigrate the poor for centuries Nothing surprises me anymore.

    hmm, as the ‘poor’ feed the uber rich thru entities like Facebook and many other global billionaire controlled entities thru
    their mere existence and ‘useage’…Poverty is perpetuated to continue the socialistic leanings of the younger skulls of mush.
