Letter writer: Gordon Smith offers energy, vision for Buncombe County

Graphic by Lori Deaton

As an 18-year resident of Asheville, I’m excited that current Asheville City Council member Gordon Smith is running for the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners.

If you know Gordon, you know that he’s a fighter for the underdog, for our children, for the poor and the disenfranchised. I will be proud to have his voice, his energy and his vision for positive change on the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners.

The March 2016 primary will be here before we know it, and I want to share that Gordon will continue to work diligently for this beautiful region by redirecting his focus on the county’s initiatives of education, community health and human services that support our citizens on a daily basis.

Vote in March, and vote Gordon Smith for Buncombe County Board of Commissioners.

LOL, he fights for the poor lulz. Where do these people come from? It’s like they can’t think at all and only emote a bunch of hot air.

    • I quite agree with you, Mr. Lulz. These progressives don’t know when they’re being taken for utter fools. I join you in your laughter.

“It’s like they can’t think at all and only emote a bunch of hot air.”

Says the “LOL/lulz” king. The nineties called – they want their pre-emoticons back.

LOL, I hear the middle class is disappearing according to Pew. And with people like Smith in charge and people like you voting him there, it’s beginning to smell more like Pepe LePew lulz.

I also see a firefighter is running for commissioner LOL. Please oh please tell me how someone who’s been a ward of the state for most of their entire lives has a clue about small business, the working class, taxes, and the other issues that affect those that have PAID his salary and pension LOL? And just like Smith and you, Dodson doesn’t have a clue either lulz. And probably won’t ever get it until the system literally chops the legs out from underneath those that have tried to make it only to watch their futures go down the drain while morons, cronies, fools, and thieves continue to scold them for their “privilege”.

“someone who’s been a ward of the state”?!

Someone who willingly puts his life on the line to protect the life and property of his fellow citizens, and the only words you can come up to describe him are “ward of the state”. Your world view is backed into such a tight, dark corner. Pathetic. LOL.

Firefighters aren’t the only freeloaders. There are police, schoolteachers, soldiers — a long list actually. Very few are qualified to rule Plato’s Republic. Lulz.

Anne Fitten Glenn, I am embarrassed for you. Name one meaningful thing Gordon Smith has done for children, the poor or “the disenfranchised?” And no, launching a political career with a vile, hatemongering blog calling people you disagree with politically “racists” is not helping anybody. Gordon Smith is a disgraceful narcissist who cares about himself and the secular progressive agenda. He has nothing but hatred and contempt for anyone who does not share his values and does not deserve to be elected at the county commissioner level.

  4. Solutionist

Gordon Smith has ZERO leadership skills…zero, zip, nada… ‘food council’ you say? BS, total BS and NOT a function of our city government. Hopefully the county residents will hear the sirens on this one…

and yes he and his entourage of ‘insiders’ are hateful progressives.

Comments should address the merits of the points raised in the letter, not attack the letter writer.
