Letter writer: Lindsey Simerly understands diversity benefits Asheville

Graphic by Lori Deaton

Lindsey Simerly is the City Council candidate who understands that a great quality of life in Asheville means we celebrate and strengthen our diversity.

She has been fighting for socioeconomic diversity as the chair of the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, and she’s been fighting for diversity as the manager of the Campaign for Southern Equality.

Lindsey gets it, and she’s proven she can get it done. Asheville needs Lindsey Simerly.

I don’t care that Lindsey is gay, but it’s not something she should be using as her _political means to get elected_. Sorry, kiddo, off with the tie, wear a business dress like women are supposed to in a work enviroment, and run on a real platform. The gay wedding issue is over, move on.
Try something that people actually care about, like, the economy, jobs, transportation, I-26, housing, environment…

thank you LocalYokel…well said! I, for one, am sick of hearing ‘diversity’ as a buzzword, except for the SEVERE NEED for some
diversity on Asheville City Council, which desperately NEEDS some compassionate conservatism for DIVERSITY, instead of the ongoing cadre’ of leftwing progressive simpletons with ZERO leadership abilities. AVL suffers decades of that…
