Letter writer: Printing conservative voter guide was greedy, immoral

Graphic by Lori Deaton

I was stunned by the [Oct. 6] Mountain Xpress to find a voter guide which was only about Republicans, a conservative voter guide. That is the most destructive thing for the state of North Carolina that I’ve seen. Every one of those people will continue the destruction of this wonderful state and continue taking away the citizens of North Carolina’s freedom.

I guess you all were paid a lot of money to publish this, but there is a morality issue. And so [as] far as I’m concerned, for printing that for money, you’re nothing but greedy and immoral, and people who vote for these conservatives are voting for a complete destruction of this state.

Apparantly Lloyd does not remember just a few short years ago when NC was totally dominated and controlled by liberal progressives who had controlled us for 140+ years…he must not remember how many of his people went to PRISON in NC plus all the ones who SHOULD have!

North Carolinians with a brain do NOT wish to return to the oppressive control of the party of slavery and the KKK.

How far progressives have fallen from the ideals of liberalism, eg, tolerance of others views and freedom to express them.

btw, NC is wonderful in part because of its conservative culture. How unfortunate that progressives flee areas wrecked by progressive government and then try to implement the same here. “But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, “The dog returns to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. 2 Peter 2:22”

and well illustrated by all the former NE city dwellers who HATE NY or MA taxes but want all the progressive provisions now in NC…sorry, it just don’t fly here anymore…we tried all that liberal BS….

Here’s the upside. Most are old r̶e̶t̶a̶r̶d̶e̶e̶s̶ retirees and will die off without reproducing. Their pernicious influence is temporary.

Oh they’ll do untold damage before that happens. And IMO, the country won’t survive in its current form.

  3. Lulz

LOL, but the deaths of 60 million humans via abortion is “moral” lulz. And financed by the US government LOL. Ah our government, beating even the Nazi’s in the genocide category LOL, LOL, LOL.

Since the beginning, the Democrats have always been against individual freedom. Their elitism of slavery merely changed forms. Now they want to put everyone on the plantation where there is a rich banker and government elite ruling the poor masses much as you have in Latin America where slavery was also once prevalent. These governments merely transformed the elitism of slavery into the inequality (practically no middle class) we see there today.

LOL democreeps can only run on bread and circuses. Freebies and handouts to those that contribute nothing to the nation. And I’m not talking just about the poor they keep on reservations known as section 8 but the rich elitist as well. Just look at our little neck of the woods. An elitist mayor who went from government lawyer to elitist law firm that has undue influence in elections and the economy, an elitist commissioner who if investigated would more than likely show how his solar company made bank off of government contracts or grants, an elitist atheist who led rally’s against Wall Street yet is for open borders and sanctuary city status that absolutely destroys wages, an elitist who takes a smug picture of himself in Greenlife while talking about hunger, etc. Bread and circuses folks lulz.

It is no coincidence the Democrats are bringing our country down to the level of Latin America. Both models are new manifestations of the elitist plantation model.

The Democrats where allowed to expand outside of their traditional base in the South because of effectively exploiting the Great Depression and education system which brought in philosophies developed in Latin America and Russia which also experienced slavery and serfdom. Meanwhile, a lot of the southern whites became less susceptible to the plantation model because a middle class developed from textile and other manufacturing industries due the protective tariff policies of the Republican Party. The Southern elite had opposed protectionism and supported free trade because it threatened their model of cheap labor and cheap goods. The map switched when Ronald Reagan eventually woke up the Southern white middle class up to the immoral evil ways of the Democratic Party. Unfortunately, they had several tricks up their sleeve. They filled the education system with socialists who opposed traditional American values and imported millions of vulnerable people from Latin America who voted for the only system they ever knew. California, the land of Nixion and Reagan was lost. Eventually, though, the Democrats will fail because their policies are wrong. Trump is not perfect, but he knows something is wrong. Obama props up the economy by doubling the national debt to $20 trillion and sells off American assets like land and companies. Meanwhile, we sustain massive trade imbalances of well over $500 billion annually when we should have trade surpluses like America used to under Republican presidents before the Bush sellouts. We have to vote Trump if America is going survive independent, rich, and free.

I’ll just make the observation here that unlike the letter writer, so far on this thread not a single one of the five rightwing commenters has the courage to post under their real names.

What are you all so terrified of? Real Americans say what they think, and do it proudly.

      • bsummers

You’re comparing yourself to Benjamin Franklin now? He wasn’t a coward, he simply couldn’t get anything published as himself, mostly because he was just a teen. When he stopped playing as a child, he used his real name, and for his bravery and good works, became known as “The First American.”

That’s very different from remaining anonymous in a venue where anyone is free to post, for reasons of wanting to lie with impunity, insult entire groups of people, spread paid propaganda, or simply spew hatred… but not have to suffer the consequences. That’s what cowards do.

        • “in a venue where anyone is free to post, for reasons of wanting to lie with impunity, insult entire groups of people, spread paid propaganda, or simply spew hatred… but not have to suffer the consequences. That’s what cowards do.”

This sounds like an apt description of the progressive chattering class found in the pages you frequent, Barry.

  7. Yes, the gift of anonymity has certainly encouraged vile conversation. Funny how people are willing to say ugly and stupid and false stuff when they don’t have to own it.

Ooops, looks like a nerve was struck.

Using given names hasn’t stopped some on here from manufacturing info, distorting facts to their liking and assigning others their viewpoints. Yippee, it’s la la land!
