Letter writer: Simerly offers integrity, skill and commitment to serving community

Graphic by Lori Deaton

Integrity, skill and honest commitment to serving our community are what I look for in a political candidate. That is why I so fully support Lindsey Simerly in her run for Asheville City Council. She has consistently led as an advocate for our community, affordable housing and the environment.

Lindsey has proven her commitment to serving as a political voice for many in this community who struggle to have their voices heard. I have been moved over the past several years by her transformative work surrounding full equality for LGBT people across the country.

She is a capable leader in all she commits herself to, and I have full faith that she will be a powerfully effective presence on Asheville City Council. Please get to know more about her at lindseyforasheville.com.

Simerly has also taken donations from a lobbyist (Rogers) who works at Brockorny Group, a Washington DC lobbyist group that has been retained by Big Pharma, the financial industry, and the US Chamber of Commerce.

Rep. Brian Turner turned down all lobbyists and PAC money from special interests. Why couldn’t Simerly?

    Actions speak louder than words.
