Letter writer: Why are we surprised by Trump?

Graphic by Lori Deaton

[In the third presidential debate], Donald Trump, when questioned if he would support Hillary Clinton if she won the election, replied that he would not promise to support her. He said that he would make that decision when the time comes, and he would “keep us in suspense.”

It seems that any patriotic American, although they may be disappointed at election results, has a duty for the greater good of our country to accept the will of the people as demonstrated by a fair Democratic voting process.

Several months ago, during the first debate of the Republican Party’s candidates for president of the United States, Mr. Trump was asked if he would support the winning candidate for the nomination.

At that time, Mr. Trump admitted that he would not promise to support the eventual Republican nominee if he were not the one picked. It seems that his reply proved that Mr. Trump was not a loyal Republican, yet the Republican Party allowed him to continue to participate in the contest that determined their nominee for president of the United States.

Now, it seems as  though we have a Republican Party candidate who professes to support the constitution of the United States, yet may not support the person who is elected in the coming election by the votes of the majority of the citizens of our country.

Yikes!

Congrats, ‘Murica. Welcome to the government you deserve.
If Trump does not win, don’t think he won’t rile his supporters up with lies such that they re-enact the scene from Frankenstein with pitchforks and torches,
    looking for retribution against ‘them’.

Maybe next election (if there is one), a candidate will run on the platform that both reading and fact checking are fundamental.
Maybe the press will grow a pair to provide information vs infotainment.
Maybe Superpacs will not be considered ok.

Aw hell, who am I kidding?

Just the same, this country has no, nada, zero. zilch moral or ethical authority anymore in terms of geopolitics, so at least we can retire the saying about being the best country in the world.

I mean seriously… How can any Clinton supporter pretend to be a moral authority? It’s beyond laughable.

    • boatrocker

I was referring to “Murica’s” perpensity to start needless/illegal/unconstitutional wars in the Middle East that send kids home in bags, claim black sites and torture are acceptable and then blame the “Kenyan” for them, after dipping bullets in blood. I know, they did that during the Crimean War, but that does not mean stars n stripes types should. Or maybe 2003 is ancient history to some.

      Murica!

My comment was directed towards the LTE, not your comment.

It’s like self-parody or Saturday Night Live “I’m so bored I need something stupid to laugh at” humor.

  3. The Real World

Oh geez, you just do have to get angry sometimes. Allen, what planet are you living on? Here are the problems with your letter:

1 – “when questioned if he would support Hillary Clinton if she won the election, replied that he would not promise to support her.” — that was not the question he was asked! He was asked if he would support the election result. A completely different question. Good grief.
2 – Allen, I’m sure you’re reading so I would appreciate a response. Did it occur to you that the same question should have been posed to HRC? Whether SHE would accept the election result? Did that cross your mind? Apparently, it didn’t seem important to anyone at the debates. What does that tell you about the outcome?

    • boatrocker

Someone is sore losering a day before the election. After all, what do you have to be afraid of?

C’mon , people, at least let this s@#$ show play itself out before you go all 1861 on us again.
Then The Real World In His Own Mind can tell us what we did wrong and why we just don’t get it.

And that whole ‘but they stole the election! sniff’ argument nobody bought in 2000-
well, but, but, it’s different this time because this time it was rigged!

Allow me to warm up if the second worst choice wins for the waaah fator-
      “Why do you hate America?”
“Like it or not that’s the POTUS now”
“Don’t like it? Delta’s ready when you are”
” I told you that 19th Amendment was BS!”
“I’m gonna buy more guns!-Honest, this time the Democrakkk is really gonna come for em!”
“OMG! How could all those loony righty un fact checked websites lied to me?”

For a Trumpwin, the Dems will be saying-
      “Ohhhhh Caaaaanada!”
“It’s cool honey- it’s called phenobarbital- vets give to pets to end their suffering, trust me, with dark hair they’ll mistake you for a Mezcan or Muslm-trust me, it’s eaier this way”
      “Welcome to Vichy France, 2.0”
“So much for the human gene pool- I hear red wine temporarily holds off the effects of radiation poisoning” (popping of a cork)

Bold face type =lost their s%&*.

      • The Real World

Good grief, who has time to read such babble. Are you 12? Best learn to make a cogent point before you reach adulthood, if you care at all about being taken seriously.

    • bsummers

Did it occur to you that the same question should have been posed to HRC?

The answer is obvious to anyone who is not suffering from CDS (Clinton Derangement Syndrome – please give!) Everyone sane knows that if she lost to Trump, Hillary would dust herself off, accept it, take her place in the loyal opposition, and probably start preparing for 2020 (yikes).

Everyone also knows that we can’t say the same thing about Donald Trump. They were both asked at the first debate, and they both gave answers in the affirmative. In the following weeks, as his poll numbers dropped, he started making comments that it was rigged, that this was the only way Hillary could win – if she cheated. This is why he was asked at the third debate, and he proved that it was right to single him out, by his answer. He would not commit to dusting himself off & supporting the winner. Sadly, he exposed himself to not be a good American.

Like I’ve been saying all along – I don’t like Hillary much, but I’m holding my nose & voting for her tomorrow, because a President Trump would be a disaster for America.

Two debates, one question: Will you accept the outcome of this election?

      • The Real World

I see your point and did not recall that question from the first debate. I still think if you’re going to ask one you have to ask both because the moderators are assuming that viewers would understand why they are only asking one. Instead, it appears another of the MANY, MANY examples of media bias and corruption (hello Donna, et. al.) in this election.

Allen still got the question wrong or mis-stated his understanding. Also, I have to disagree about Hillary letting it go if results come in and she lost by a thread. No, she’d contest it. However, I don’t see that happening as her lizard buddies Soros and Kissinger have that covered for her (they’ve gotten definitively better after the cluster that was 2000).

          • bsummers

“Image of a lizard in text and photo”

What is that, some remnant of a Satanic chant that you forgot to scrub from your daily Kremlin update?

          • The Real World

You have it reversed. He is Satan in a human body. You are very under-informed about him (or in denial).

Here are the lizards at work…..just like what happened in Texas a couple weeks ago — vote flipping.: http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2016/11/08/some-problems-reported-as-voters-head-to-polls/

Btw, this is hardly new. I read numerous reports about it online in 2012 but no LAMESTREAM media would cover it. Now both Trump and Sanders have outted the issue and woken people up; I give them both credit for that.

          • bsummers

No, it’s just that all the Soros-as-Satan stuff you guys peddle has laugh-out-loud statements like this in them:

“Conservatives and Republicans have no opposing effort or source of funds that represents even a small fraction in opposition to level of the Soros-led manipulation contained in the leaked documents.”

When you can’t make your case without telling whoppers like that, who can take you seriously?

But Moscow wants you to keep hammering on Soros and Clinton, so that’s what you & the other anonymous sockpuppets will do…

    • Deplorable Infidel

Yes! Excellent points! MILLIONs of peoples all over the world will certainly NOT support the most EVIL female on the planet running for president – if she wins. She’s EVIL personified, right before your very eyes. I lived through the Clinton 90s so I do not understand the infatuation by people for this CRIMINAL family – perhaps the MOST COLOSSAL criminal organization ever created.

      • bsummers

“Such A nasty woman”. JUST keep repeating it, & see how that helps your CASE with THE aMERICAN people.

  4. KD

Well, it appears Monica Lewisnky’s ex-boyfriend’s wife just got ****-grabbed by President-elect Trump! Tough time to be a Special Snowflake SJW…
