Muffin Republicans, go home

We read Richard Thatcher's love-fest letter to the editor (regarding Whole Foods) with amusement [“Wholly Satisfied with Whole Foods,” May 4 Xpress].

Wow. We moved here from Atlanta to get away from pseudo-Republicans like you. If you don't want to support local Asheville businesses and be a part of the community, why don't you go back to Atlanta? Your muffins would be so many hours fresher, and think of all the money you would save if you bought them there instead of here! And think too how much happier everyone here would be, too. Love ya, mean it, buhbye.

How fresh, someone moving here telling someone else to move away, I love the open minded mentality.

Poor Laura and Lou … its sad the people already here didn’t just hop up and leave upon your arrival. Who carried your train into town?

  3. Cosmic Ballroom

I’d trade the new and fluffy Asheville for the old, economically depressed and run-down Asheville simply for the decency of its citizens back then.

I don’t necessarily want anyone to move because they’re Republican, or prefer Muffins from Atlanta. The mere fact they’re here, is reason to believe they to, are worthy of redemption.

Dang, jctripp, I thought I was hard on the hippies. I bow to your superior firepower. Sorry you had to leave.

I like Whole Foods. It’s why I moved here.

Funny, since you’ve lived here for far longer than that.

Maybe there’s more than one of them.

    RUN. FOR. THE. HILLS.

  8. Earthfare does seem to support the local economy more then Whole Foods does… why is that? Is it honestly because WF gets the food items cheaper in places like Atlanta? I’d think the few pennies WF was saving in that way would be wasted by the cost of trucking it up to Ashevegas.

I wonder this about the produce as well. WF will get for example, apples from Washington even when the fruit is in season right around the corner. Just curious about WF reasonings behind these sorts of moves. Is it really all about the mighty dollar and the big companies? If so, that really stinks for local economy and the little guys.
