Blaming the unemployed for unemployment adds insult to injury

When did it become okay to attack the unemployed?

Lately it seems that unemployed Americans are under constant attack from Republicans. Sitting Senators, candidates for the Senate and House and [other] right-wing leaders are making the claim that people who don't have a job are lazy. As if unemployment wasn't hard enough, Americans most in need of help are subjected to insults by an out-of-touch party.

Recently, GOP Sen. Richard Burr made that claim (this from a person who's never had to live paycheck to paycheck). The claim is an insult to the millions of Americans who are looking for work after the same Republicans drove our economy into the ditch. Burr needs to apologize.

Millions of Americans have lost their jobs because of reckless Republican policies. We're fed up! This behavior is wrong. It is disgusting. It's an embarrassment that Sen. Burr thinks he can get away with it. Whether you're unemployed now, had to settle for a lower-paying job or have family members who are looking for a job, send a message to Burr. We're fed up with [the] rich elite criticizing working Americans who are trying to find work in the worst economy since the Great Depression.

We need to stand together against these right-wing insults by remembering these insults in November when we vote.

Sen. Burr worked his way thru school and was a
Sales Manager for an equipment company. His wife is a Realtor. They are NOT wealthy.

We cannot continue to subsidize the UNemployed ad infinitum. We are creating a new dependent class which is UN American.

If the democrats had not created the destruction of the housing industry thru Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and all their THIEVES, we would be in better shape nationally. Barney Frank and Sen Dodd should be in JAIL WITH Charlie Rangel!!!

Yes, as long as the unemployed are looking for work, they are the victims, not the cause. The economy started to go north under the last few month of the Bush Administration. BUT, Obama has had 2 years to “fix” it, and he has not only NOT made progress fixing the problem of the ecomony and by extension the dismal employment picture, but has made it worse. Much worse. Obama talks purdy and has a nice smile and is a good baby kisser. But he had NO executive experience coming into office, and only 2 years as a senator at the federal level with most all that time spent running for president. This woeful lack of experience on Obnama’s resume is the reason he has been so incompetent. I suggest we all holour noses and vote straight republican this fall ofr all available offices. This will de-power the inept Obama machine and put the economy on an upswing.

It’s easy to say the unemployed are the problem when you are a wealthy Republican. However, I don’t lay the blame for our high unemployment on Republicans or Democrats. We as a country need to stop bitching at each other about it and do something to help our good people. Less talk, more action.

As for all you O-haters, rationally speaking, you can not blame Obama for the mess we are in. There is no quick fix. Tax cuts for the rich will not do it. Starting another useless war won’t do it. The till has been tapped and the credit card maxed out by your friends in the bush administration. The bill must be paid. And you, (assuming you make enough money to be taxed, which is doubtful) are going to pay. If blaming the black man makes you feel better, go ahead, continue to spout your spoon fed by fox misinformation, but it makes you look pathetic!

Our dysfunctional Congress is what is not working. Too much special interest. No way to blame any one side anymore. We have more to fear from big business than government.

“We have more to fear from big business than government.”

When big government more and more regulates big business, is there a difference? Who do you fear then?
