All this, and Council too?

Sorry to disappoint the Disclaimer, Molton and the liberal fringe on my announced run for Congress, but I won’t be resigning from City Council, my practice, or persisting efforts to get our socialist Council members to come out of the closet. Look for a spirited challenge of Congressman Shuler’s real voting record—without any attached meanness—and a steady assault on the corruption we call “Washington.”

My goal will be to let the voters of WNC know where I authentically stand and will stand on the issues; they will take things from there. In the meantime, if you have a group of two or more people who need a speaker, let me know. I’m eager to get the game started, and I’m not talking about football.

Asheville City Council member and candidate for Congress

No meanness? Then why are you calling unnamed members of our council “socialists”? That is just another version of the old-time “commie pinko” slur used by big government Republicans for years, who want govt. to stay out of the way, unless its to subsidize corporations and war. Then it appears to be acceptable. Health care and zoning? That is considered “socialist.” Billions of dollars for an ill advised war? No problem. Trying to get people to come “out of the closet”? What are you saying? Why are you now focused on finding solutions? It sure sounds like you have a different agenda than that.

Becky Tate is spot on. You continue to rail against ‘socialists’. Please identify who these dreaded Commies are, and demonstrate that they embrace the particular economic model known as ‘socialism’. Facts, please, not more silly name-calling. And if you are in such dread over this, why are you consistently silent over the very real and well-documented ‘corporate welfare’ that has become part and parcel of our political structure, warmly embraced by ‘fiscally prudent’ (yeah, right) Republicons.

You have a documented history yourself; you habitually denigrate your fellow council members and many others, as typified in your alternate-reality musings published as ‘guest commentaries’ in the AC-T.

And your buffoonish grandstanding in an effort to come across as a tough, anti-drug crusader is a joke. Again, the question is: if you are so concerned over the pernicious, evil influence of drugs, why don’t you park yourself in front of a meth lab or crack house? Slithering through a musical concert fingering a handful of stoned-out, grinning hippy types is pathetic. Tell us who, exactly, is made safer by such antics?

It will be interesting to see how many ‘groups of two or more’ take you up on your offer.
