Asheville music follows legendary footsteps

I’d like to personally invite everyone out to support Asheville music at the 2008 Asheville Music Jamboree, May 23 to 25, where the Asheville Music Hall of Fame will be making its debut. We’ll be holding a fundraiser, selling engraved bricks to “help pave the way” for this much-needed tribute. They will be $100 for individuals and businesses alike. Of course, larger donations are welcome.

As noted in recent letters, there’s a world of history to be honored and a culture that is steadily following in the footsteps of legends.  I’m not sure what museum Zhenya Gene Senyak [“Dig Those Mountain Roots,” April 16] was referring to, but there is an effort underway to create this Asheville Music Hall of Fame for visitors to engage the Asheville music community while most of the participants are busy either touring or working a job that doesn’t even pay for gas.

If anyone has questions or would like to find out how they can help, feel free to e-mail me at ashevillemusichalloffame@gmail.com, or call 430-1800. I look forward to seeing this town with a tourist destination that truly represents the folks that have shaped the unique musical landscape here, past and present. See you at AMJAM!
