Eck doesn’t speak for all of us in the mountains

In response to Christian Eck's letter in the May 12 Xpress ["Democrats Don't Represent Our Mountain Values"], I would say that he does not speak for all of us living in the mountains, certainly not me and many of my friends. Anyone who supports gun ownership and gun rights is an enemy of all those who have had relatives and friends shot by guns. I wonder how much attention he paid to the Bush/Republican years. They are the ones who got us into the fix we are in now. They got us into a war with lies; they supported only the wealthy big companies, oil, banks, insurance companies who put us into this [economic state]. They don't care about the common man. Obama may not have turned out to be the miracle worker that everyone hoped he would be, but he had no help in Congress from the party of "no."

Eck doesn't like Shuler. But neither do I, because he is a Republican at heart. Tigers don't change their spots and neither do Republicans. They accomplished nothing for the good of this country under Bush and they enlarged the power of the presidency in a way that no administration has ever done. Remember the past, people.

I support gun owners and gun rights and I’m not a Republican.

You do know that the vast majority of the Democratic party did all those things, too, right?

Born and raised in the Mountains,
    Eck speaks for me!

Would like to see Eck run for County Commision.

The dictatorial entitlement that people that were born here feel they possess speaks volumes to me as to their unworthiness of the same.

    Well, that settles it then.

You want questions, how about answering the ones you’ve been asked on the original thread about Eck’s LTE and on the Askville interview with you. You’ve avoided them long enough.

Chad, I’ve never seen you win an argument with anyone, though I hear tell you gave cigar store Indian a run for his money.

We republicans have surely made a mess of things, but god will sort it out for us. Drill Baby Drill! Teabagging! God what a party!

Chad, you are the manly one. Please o please send me a photo. It’s a damn shame all you manly republican types are closeted. But we can keep it on the downlow. Is it true “deliverance” was filmed near here? (one of my personal favorites)

FFSY, I’m not getting involved in any political poop slinging here.

But “Deliverance” was filmed from three locations.

The closest to here being the Chatooga River on the border of GA/SC (Section III- The narrows)

Please insert banjo and pig references here to further de-rail a thread.

Essex, if I ever meet you in the real lifes (not on a forum but in person) there’s a shot of single malt Scotch on my dime. Digital high five.

So he spoke for you when he advocated that people “worship Jesus” and engage in “public prayer?” Is that your idea of “personal freedom?”

That is why you are a PhD and most aren’t. You should run for mayor.
