Good for the economy?

Exxon Mobil and other giant corporations posted record profits again this quarter. The Dow Jones Index continues to climb to record levels almost every day. Apparently, the oil “shortage” and the war and its carnage and killing are good for the economy. Yet every day, I hear Western North Carolinians say they are finding it harder and harder to pay the bills every month. Something stinks when an exclusive few are getting rich off our soldiers dying. These are the powerful people who continue to support the president and his policies, with no cares that their fortune is based on lies, murder and graft.

Should we sit back and allow this exploitive behavior to continue? The president has yet to address why one giant corporation, his friend Halliburton, was granted no-bid contracts for rebuilding Iraq. This administration continues to push for more oil drilling in protected areas, completely unconcerned with the scientific consensus that our earth is dying and that we need to look at alternative fuels and changing our habits. Apparently those in power believe the earth is here to pillage for corporate profit. We cannot allow our elected officials and their friends, the giant corporations, to continue to exploit the earth and the people on it, taking as much as they can for themselves and taking it for granted that none of us will speak up. I worry for our children.
