In his first news conference, President Obama performed impressively. Standing for nearly an hour, he answered questions from the press. Only that morning, he had made a speech in Elkhart. My guess would be he’d really need a cigarette after that.
He responded forthrightly to all the inquiries with amazing accuracy. I later wondered if he had been given the questions beforehand. Probably so, I thought, when he made the assertion there are no nuclear weapons in the Middle East. This response was likely planted by an embedded Israeli sympathizer because, of course, it is shockingly false—intended to perpetuate the old myth of poor Israel, the peaceful little nation that only responds to attacks on its people or territory. The unprovoked Israeli bombing of an alleged Syrian nuclear plant remains on the record to refute that nonsense. Israel has hundreds of nuclear weapons stockpiled, and one of their whistle blowers has now been in jail many years for divulging the existence of Israel’s nuclear [capacity].
I admire our new president and have great respect for Israel, but we should always expect the truth from our president.
