Thanks for the real URTV story

Many thanks are in order to you and [A&E Editor] Rebecca Sulock for sharing URTV's real story with the community ["You Make It, They Air It," Oct. 14]. As you can see, URTV is community, and is the community's story. Ordinary citizens, your neighbors, spend many volunteer hours building relationships with fellow videographers, community-based organizations, local churches, entertainment groups and issue-related groups to ensure diverse representation on Charter Communications Channel 20.

The entire URTV community appreciates and treasures this kind of recognition from the Mountain Xpress!

URTV Board of Directors

    Rev.Young,
As a former member of the Board of Directors & a supporter of public access I now see that you are able to write & share remarks however you failed to address issues & problems as chairman of the board at any board meetings & to any press.

The staff at Mtn.Express requsted responces from you & you fail to responed so now here you are with a responce to a story which failed to get any remarks from you or the current exective director about recent issues & problems.

I will again request that you & the current exective director resign & depart public access here in Buncombe County due to my views of violations of OBM Laws of NC & failure to comply with City & County resolutions.

The new board member coming to you from the City will now be reqired to follow OBM laws of NC & this is because of you failed to ensure that URTV comply with resolutions & OBM laws of NC.

  2. Jerry,
“You Make It, They Air It”, is only part of the real story.

Here is a link to the rest of the story:

The six month expose’ includes the following issues:
mismanagement, inability to either understand or refusal to follow open meeting laws, refusal to follow laws governing non profits, refusal to admit they are obligated to answer to the public, which funds them. URTV is a publicly funded public access studio, that is acting like they are privately financed. They are totally supported by peg fees and as such are required to adhere to transparency of their financial records and membership. They have hired high priced ($250. to $300. and hours) law firms to help them avoid transparency, using the publics funds to pay for those attorneys.

  3. Gee, Jerry, do you think you can make it for another 90 days before your corrupt “c o m m u n i t y” dissolves from lack of support from your funders?

You have been given a stay of execution. Use it.

Oh yeah Jeff…mismanagement of public funding! That’s really running an organization correctly isn’t it? Not following NC Open meeting laws when required to? Boy o boy that sure is running an organization absolutely flawlessly isn’t it? Do your run your office that way as well??
