I just read a fellow Masshole’s letter about the purported Dunkin’ Donuts nickname “Dodos” [“Nono on Dodo,” Dec. 5], and I have to agree that I’ve never heard it before. I consulted with two other fellow Massachusetts natives, and they too were puzzled by the supposed moniker. Mr. Millard cites Natick and Framingham as former residences, and all three of us spent most of our lives within a 20-mile radius of these towns, so it’s not as if we’re from some faraway paht of the massive state of Massachusetts. I must admit, we were all bothered by the slander and almost offended. I’m kidding—an essential part of being a Masshole is being wicked sahcastic. So in summary, I’d just like to get to the bottom of this vital issue.
As an Asheville transplant of 10 years, I, like my letter-writing Massaholic colleague, will put my foot forward for the handfuls of local coffee shops whose organic fair-trade coffee is worlds better than Dunkin’ Donuts’ industrial blend. Though I do agree the iced coffee on a summer day is a worthy treat, and more importantly the donuts are universes better than anything Krispy Kreme ever dreamed of making. Try the Boston Creme. And don’t call it “DoDos.”
