We need wise support for Israel

Israel is one reason some people may vote Republican, despite evidence that Bush has accomplished nothing to help settle the Arab-Israeli dispute for the last eight years. Bush’s so-called Road Map for Peace has led to a Bridge to Nowhere. Still believing the lie that Obama is Muslim, they argue that McCain has promised to defend Israel at any cost. The fact that Obama would consider other avenues before we destroy yet another country is considered unacceptable by some. I think it shows wisdom.

Israel needs to be strong and defensive, as well as to seek other possibilities of reaching a reasonable solution. Israel seems to be an insolvable quagmire that cannot be resolved in the way it’s been approached. This isn’t something that either candidate is going to make better by waving some magic wand, bombing Iran or continuing along the present belligerent path.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden strongly support the U.S.-Israel relationship. They both believe that our first commitment in the Middle East must be to the security of Israel. They support Israel’s right to self-defense, and they support foreign aid to Israel. In all these respects, there is really no difference between the Republicans and the Democrats, so the real question is which U.S. foreign policy is more likely to make a difference in the Middle East: the militaristic one of the Republicans, or the diplomatic route emphasized by the Democrats?

We simply can’t afford any more wars, so it’s time to give the Democrats a chance.

Of course they support a strong Israel. Israel is the current US Military base in the Middle East, only now we also have Iraq. Without complete US support, military and financial, Israel would not last another month in the land they appropriated from its previous owners.

Sorry wars just don’t come about as planned on the american calendar. WWII started during the great depression, I guess really we could not afford that one either? Let the democrats sit down with osama in his cave and talk, my money is on the democrats ending up like the leader of the northern alliance in afganistan. Blown up? Israel, is our best friend in the middle east, they have tried to negotiate with their enemies by peace for land. Still no peace for israel, minus the land. Enough said.
