Kingdom: A Drag King Showcase at Boiler Room in the Grove House, was intended to run as a sort of open mic, but after the inaugural show, organizer Viktor Grimm Couture was inundated with calls. He has already booked his twice-monthly events several dates in advance. Upcoming installations of Kingdom take place on Saturdays, July 8 and 22.
Any examination into heavy metal in Asheville runs into the inevitable gray area of what metal music is. And while this variety makes it difficult at times to tell who fits in where, one uniting and striking quality of Asheville’s metal scene is the joy its players take in their craft, regardless of material success.
The local pop-punk band signs with indie-label Little Heart Records and gears up for the release of its EP, “Late Nights and Long Drives.” The album drops on Feb. 19 with a party at the Boiler Room on Friday, Feb. 15.
