The commemoration, now in its fourth year, remembers the Jazz Age luminary with a weeklong roster of events.
Now in its third year, and with more events than ever before, the weeklong Celebrate Zelda! festival, running Friday, March 9, to Friday, March 16, includes art exhibits, cocktail parties, gaming competitions and more.
Lori Greenberg, who co-coordinated Celebrate Zelda!, views the three-day series, happening Friday-Sunday, March 10-12, as a way to spotlight the benefits of the arts for those struggling with mental health issues.
A series of events held March 10, including a benefit party featuring the Firecracker Jazz Band, honor of one of Asheville’s first resident celebrity artists. The celebration will help not only with raising funds for Aurora Studio & Gallery, but in fighting the stigma of mental illness.
