Lewis Kyle Wilson: “I’m innocent of the charges”
Speaking to Xpress at the Buncombe County Detention Facility on Feb. 27, Lewis Kyle Wilson asserted his innocence against charges of brutally assaulting and kidnapping a prostitute last November. Wilson has also been named a “person of interest” in an unsolved 2006 murder and two other prostitute assaults in Asheville’s Riverside area.
Buncombe Commissioners preview: Pitchfork edition
The Buncombe County Board of Commissioners may have a (cardboard) pitchfork-wielding mob at its March 3 meeting, as the Republican Action Club will show up to demand a decrease in property taxes along with votes on a variety of issues. Also part of the protest: conservative activist Eric Gorny “dressed as Braveheart.”

The number of chronic homeless people in Asheville is down 25 percent from the last year, according to figures from the city of Asheville and Buncombe County. However, perhaps driven by the state of the economy, the overall number of homeless rose by 5 percent.
