When I read Amy LaDeroute’s letter to the editor [“Let’s Make It 578,” Jan. 31] about the need for smoke-free musical venues, I smiled to myself in total agreement. I, too, have been a singer in this area for 15 years. For the past three years, I have been fortunate enough to perform in a non-smoking wine bar.
Well, there’s great news. The Blue Ridge Performing Arts Center, located in downtown Hendersonville at Sixth and Main, will hold its grand opening on Saturday, March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, from 6 to 10 p.m. This smoke-free environment will have a 100-seat listening room, a 20-seat digital screening room, a recording studio and a marble mezzanine ballroom for swing and salsa dance.
Blue Ridge PAC will host live concerts four or five nights per week, plus theatrical productions, improv and comedy, teen music night etc.
Please call 696-9999 for more information, or visit the Web site at: www.blueridgepac.net.
I’m glad to hear that the Blue Ridge Performing Arts Center has voluntarily chosen to make their private property smokeless.
I support private property owners making their own economic decisions without the interference of the government in the marketplace.
I encourage business owners to use and dispose of their property as they see fit; and this includes the decision to allow smoking.
